How we compare
Most comparison pages are written to make one option look inevitable. This one is not. We build custom sites and the systems behind them for Australian businesses, so we have an obvious interest. You should read these with that in mind. What we have tried to do instead is set out where each option genuinely wins, where it struggles for a business like yours, and when you should pick it over us.
Every statistic here is sourced and linked. Several of them cut against our own pitch, and we have left them in. If a claim is an argument rather than a measurement, we say so.

The comparisons
- WordPressThe incumbent. Powerful, ubiquitous, and last of the major platforms in mobile field data once it has aged.
- WixBetter built than its reputation suggests. The question is the ceiling, not the quality.
- SquarespaceBeautiful defaults, solid performance, and a documented one way door.
- FramerThe most attractive sites on the modern web, and a portability claim that contradicts itself.
- WebflowThe strongest of the visual builders. Often the closest call we make.
- AI site buildersThey genuinely work now — and if you have already built with one, we can put a real backend under it.
- Web agenciesThe usual alternative. Bigger team, more process — and if you run one, a platform you can carry under your own name.
What we would tell you on the phone
If your current site is a neglected WordPress build, moving to Wix or Squarespace would probably be an improvement. We would say so rather than lose the conversation by pretending otherwise. Where a custom build earns its keep is when the site has to carry real structure: a filterable product range, technical documents, indexable vacancies, a connection to a system you already run, or when you want to own the result outright rather than rent it.
